Influential Thrillers

These are examples of thriller films made over the last 20 years that I believe will help me and be influential on my work throughout this project of planning and making a thriller trailer.

 

‘The Grey’ is a movie made in 2011 about a group of people that survive a plane crash, but they go straight out of the frying pan and into the fire as they are hunted by a pack of deadly wolves. This film is influential to me as it showed me how to make scene tense and get people on the edge of their seat.

 

‘Taken’ is a movie made in the year 2008 and is based on a father trying to rescue his daughter within a small window of time only a few days who was taken by a group of human traffickers who would then sell his daughter and she would never be found. This film is influential as it contains action that is high tempo and would help me to add some high tempo action if it was needed.

 

‘Gangster Squad’ is a film made in the year 2013 but set in 1949 Los Angeles, based on a true story about the mafia leader Mickey Cohen who runs the city, a secret crew of police officers led by two determined sergeants work together in an effort to take down ruthless mob king Mickey Cohen. This is influential as it also shows how to put action and suspense together and make to viewer feel like they are with the action.   

 

‘Pulp Fiction’ is a movie made in the year 1994 and is based on a few stories about different people, who’s stories intertwine with each other over a series of events that take place. This is influential as it shows action adventure and how to fit separate things together.
